A lot of history.

Over 250000 visitors a year go to Clonmacnoise. It was, extremely busy when we went down the Shannon in August. This trip, we shared it with just four other boats overnight. It was a monastic settlement in the 6th century. The high kings of Ireland used to be buried there. More recently, Pope John Paul II celebrated Mass there in his 1979 visit to Ireland.
